Destination - Bagdogra - Darjeeling - Gangtok- Lachung
- Yumthang - Lachung - Gangtok - Kalimpong - Bagdogra
Day
01 : Arrive Bagdogra - Darjeeling
Arrive at Bagdogra and drive to Darjeeling for three hours through tea
gardens and pretty hillside towns. On arrival in Darjeeling transfer to
Mayfair resort on the Mall.
Day 02 : Darjeeling
Early morning visit Tiger Hill for fabulous sun rise views of Mt.
Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world at 7409m. Mt.
Everest and a host of other Himalayan giants are also seen on the horizon.
On our drive back to the hotel we will stop at Ghoom, a Tibetan- Buddhist
monastery.
After breakfast visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, the Tibetan
Refugee Camp, Tenzing Rock, Lebong race course and the Tea garden.
Day 03 : Darjeeling - Gangtok
Today's drive to Gangtok for three and half hours is truly naturalist's
delight as you move upstream along the river Teesta. The hillside and
mountain slopes of Sikkim are strewn with bright patches of myriad colors.
The lower mountain slopes are abundant with lush green bamboo and ferns.
The higher altitudes are abloom with 46 species of Rhododendrons. And of
course, Sikkim's 600 varieties of orchid are everywhere. Overnight at
Hotel Norkhill Gangtok.
Day 04 : Gangtok
Half day sightseeing of Gangtok Town. Perched on top of a ridge at a
height of 1520mts. lies Gangtok, a quaint, colorful town. This small
modernised town is the capital of sikkim .we visit the institute of
Tibetology which has a collection of almost 30,000 volumes on diverse
subjects like astrology. Philosophy, magic and religion. After lunch we
visit the Orchid Sanctuary which has over 200 species of temperature and
intermediate orchids on beautifully landscaped grounds and also Rumtek
Monastery.

Day 05 : Gangtok - Lachung
Depart at 7AM. From Gangtok for Lachung. Arrive Lachung by 5 PM. (140 km
Journey)
Enroute Lunch at Mangan which is the district headquarter of North
District. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 06 : Lachung - Yumthang - Lachung
Depart Lachung for Yumthang after breakfast which is 24 kms journey.
Yumthang is a grazing pasture surrounded by vertical mountains. Yumthang
at an elevation of 3575m is a paradise for nature lovers also known as
valley of flowers with a fascinating blend of flora and fauna and
breathtaking scenic grandeur. It also has hot springs immensely popular
for its curative properties and healing power. Return in the afternoon to
Lachung.
Day 07 : Lachung - Gangtok
Full Day drive back to Gangtok.
Day 08 : Gangtok - Kalimpong
After breakfast or lunch drive to Kalimpong for two and half hours.
Before the Chinese take over of Tibet, Kalimpong was the centre of
India's wool trade with that country, with Tibetan caravans wending their
way down from the Tibetan plateau to trade wool for manufactured goods.
Today Kalimpong is a holiday resort for its fabulous mountain views, bird
watching, and walks in the hills. It has become a centre for Orchid and
Cactus nurseries, and exports these plants to different places all over
the world. On arrival transfer to The Orchid Retreat.
Day 09 : Kalimpong
After breakfast visit Deolo Hill, the highest point within Kalimpong
Municipality area which provides a 360 degree panoramic view. Also visit
Dr. Graham's Homes, founded in 1900 by Rev. Dr.J.A. Grahams, a Scottish
missionary. This institute was established as an orphanage cum school for
the destitute Anglo Indian School. It is now a renowned regular
co-educational school situated in 500 acre campus.
After lunch visit Durpin Monastery a Tibetan temple belonging to the
yellow Hat Sect of Lamaism, also the Army Golf Course a nine hole golf
course overlooking beautiful views of the mountains.
Day 10 : Kalimpong - Bagdogra
Transfer to Bagdogra airport in time to catch flight to Delhi.
The Himalayas are not mere rocks and snows
but an ubfailing storehouse of adventure and beauty.
