Destination - Leh - Stok - Leh palace - Shey - Thikse

Day 01 : Arrival Leh
You will be met on arrival at the Leh airport and transferred to the
hotel. Day for acclimatization. Meals and overnight at Hotel.
Leh - Ladakh : Ladakh at an altitude of 11500 Ft. is a land like no
other. Bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Great
Himalaya and the Karakoram, it lies athwart two others, the Ladakh range
and the Zanskar range. Ladakh is also known as the land of passes
Day
02 : In Leh (Visit Stok, Leh palace & Market)
After breakfast visit Stok palace which houses a fine private museum.
There is a superb collection of thangkhas, said to be the best in the
world. Some of them have been worked in pure gold and paints made of
crushed semi-precious stones. The collection also includes artillery and
animal skins. Stok Gompa is a subsidiary of Spitok and both were founded
by the same lama, Nawang Lotus, during the reign of King Takpa Bumlde.
Stok belongs to the yellow-hat sect of Buddhism and currently has about 20
lamas living there. The oldest parts of the gompa are some 550 years old
though the Dukhang or main assembly hall is only about 50 years old.
In the afternoon visit Leh, a fascinating labyrinth of winding streets and
quaint bazaars. The main street is open and airy, with rows of shops on
either side. On either side of the market are seen a long line of Ladakhi
women in traditional dress and colourful jewelry of coral and turquoise,
seated behind enormous baskets, selling vegetables. The spectacular
eight-storey Leh Palace looming above, overlooking the town, was built in
the 16th century, about the same time as the Potala in Lhasa which it
resembles. Back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 03 : In Leh (Shey - Thikse - Hemis)
After early breakfast full day sightseeing of Shey, Thiksey & Hemis.
Shey was the summer Palace of Ladakhi Kings and is where you can see the
36Ft. high statue of Buddha made of copper and covered with gold. Thiksey
: The twelve storied monastery of Thicksey is situated in the most
prominent of positions, lies on an island Mountain. Finally visit; Hemis :
Farthest away from Leh, this is the wealthiest Monastery in Ladakh
belonging to the Red Sect - it is here each summer that plays are held and
Ladakhis from all parts of the country will visit Hemis. Evening return to
Leh. Meals and overnight at Hotel.
Day
04 : In Leh (Khardungla Pass)
After breakfast half day trip to Khardungla ( 18380 fts. ) the worlds
highest motorable road & gateway to Siachen Glacier . Afternoon free
for personal activities. Meals and overnight at Hotel. Evening visit to a
Ladakhi Family. Meals and overnight at Hotel in Leh.
Day 05 : Drive Leh - Sarchu (250 Kms)
Full day drive to Sarchu via Upshi and we have to cross second highest
motorable pass in world (TAGLANGLA PASS 5350 MTRS). Enjoy the nature
beauty of the mountains continue drive through Moreplans there are chance
to see tiny colonies of Marmots, Yaks & Herbs. At Pang we stop for
lunch continue drive to Lachungla pass 5065 Mtrs rugged in the middle of
the mountains. Arrive Sarchu tonight our camp will be at 4200 Mtrs. and it
will be the coldest night during the whole tour. Overnight in Tents.
Day 6 : Drive Sarchu - Jispa (85 Kms)
Sarchu is the border line between Jammu n Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh
after 20 Kms drive we enter into Himachal Pradesh and we reach Baralachala
pass 4883 Mtrs. here on the top there is a lake known as Surajtal and we
will meet first village at Darcha after Rumtze. Check in at hotel Ibex for
an overnight stay.
Day 07 : Drive Jispa to Manali
After
breakfast start drive to Manali. We reach Keylong the head district in
this area, continue drive to Manali finally we reach Khoksar where we stop
for check point. Continue ascending towards Rohtang pass 3978 mts. Have
some time at the top of the pass and paragliding for couple of minutes may
be an advantage for the adventures person. We dip into Manali region,
another 51 Kms drive will take us to Manali. Check in at the hotel for
overnight stay.
Day 08 : In Manali
Day for explore the hill station. Manali is circled by beautiful glades
of deodars and flowering horse chestnuts, tiny leveled fields and fruit
orchards with the Beas River meandering through the town. It is an ideal
place for walks, climbs, treks and picnics.
Visit Dhoongri Temple, also known as the Hadimba Temple, believed to be a
thousand years old, It is dedicated to the goddess Hadimba, wife of Bhima,
the Pandava of Mahabharata fame. Set in tranquil surroundings, the temple
is four-tiered with a pagoda shaped roof and at the entrance are carved
figures and symbols. Local folklore has it that Raja Bahadur Singh, who
had the temple built, ordered the architect's hand cut off to prevent him
from duplicating its design elsewhere.
The Vashisht Springs are located in the small village of Vashisht on the
left bank of the Beas. The hot water sulphur springs have been made into
Turkish-style baths with shower rooms and temperature controlled water
piped in. The nearby temple dedicated to Vashista Muni is well worth a
visit. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09 : In Manali
Morning visit Jagatsukh, originally known as Nast, is located 6 km from
Manali on the left bank of the Beas on the Manali-Naggar Road. It was the
ancient capital of Kulu for some ten generations and is famous for its
temples, particularly the shikara-style Shiva temple and the interesting
Devi Sharvali temple. Afternoon explore the market and time for shopping.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 10 : Drive Manali to Chandigarh (307 Kms 8 hours drive)
Morning drive to Chandigarh. Approx. 8 hours drive. Check in at hotel
Solitaire for overnight stay.
Day 11 : In Chandigarh
Explore Chandigarh. A most important site in the city is the Rock Garden,
the place that has been captured by millions of cameras. Rose Garden is
another important landmark and a part of Leisure Valley, a garland of
gardens that ornaments the city. Government Museum and Art Gallery
displays some important stone sculptures of ancient India. Overnight at
hotel.
DAY 12 : Drive Chandigarh to Delhi & Departure
Morning you will be transferred to the railway station to board Shatabdi
Express departs at 0642 hours and arrive New Delhi railway station at 10
00 hours. Transfer to railway station / airport to board flight for onward
destination.
The Himalayas are not mere rocks and snows
but an ubfailing storehouse of adventure and beauty.
